Barry Bandara

I would like to dedicate this website to my late father, Barry Bandara. He was born in the Bay Area in California and died in Oregon at 52 years of age.

Dad, you were my hero! Life was not easy but both you and mom persevered and were excellent role models to your children. Thank you for staying committed to your wife and family even through many years of discouragement, financial pressures and difficult situations. Your strong faith in Jesus Christ gave our family strength and purpose. You were tested, tried and found faithful. You died way too young, but you fought your colon cancer like you lived your life: you never quit, and you gave it 110%. And I have always been so proud to be your daughter.

We miss you every Thanksgiving when we are all together and during football season (the 49ers are not that great now so you’re not missing much). I know I speak for all your children- Bonny, Barry, Becky, Bobby, Brendy and Bradley and your 13 beautiful grandchildren – when we say we are so grateful to you and mom for sticking to your values and beliefs. Even though we complained loudly at times, you and mom remained the parents. You left us a legacy of faith, commitment, perseverance, self-reliance, the love of humor and the love of sports! You were right, dad, and your children have reaped the benefits of that solid foundation you always said was so important! Now we want to make you and mom proud in how we raise your grandchildren. You use to say that one day you would have to give an account to God for how you raised us kids. Well, daddy we know that God is proud of you!

...and as the saying goes, “Behind every great man lies a great woman.” Mom, we are all so proud of you as you serve the military children in Ft. Hood, Texas! Your love for God, family and country has always been so strong. For all the years you cheered for us in our endeavors, we are cheering for you!
